Hey there!
2023 was an amazing year for me, both professionally and personally. I had a lot of fun, got to see a lot of things and do a lot more.
Vapour Trails
Back in April, I undertook a small project over the course of the semester with several other members of my program and we created Vapour Trails: a game taking place in a synthwave colourful future, where you play plucky mercenary starfighter pilot.
This was a unique technical challenge, especially for a small team: we were pushing Unreal to do something it wasn’t out of the box ready for, so most of the leg work for movement (pun intended), as well as weapons and game dynamics was all up to us. In the end, I think we made something special, and I hope to one day revisit this project with the knowledge I’ve gained since making it.
World Warlock
In September, I started my final year of Game Development at Algonquin College. I was lucky enough to have one of my game ideas picked, and our team began developing what would become World Warlock: a first person shooter blending the drab and grungy combat and environments of World War I with vibrant elemental combinations.
We’ve faced many challenges, especially with a much larger team and greater scope of what we want to achieve. But as things start to align, bugs get fixed, and assets finalized, I hope to show off more exciting and fun gameplay from our game.
With World Warlock still in active development, and 2024 still for the taking, I’m looking forward to the journey, and all the amazing creations and creative ideas I’ll get to contribute towards.
